About this resource
Maternity Waiting Homes (MWHs) are live-in facilities close to or in health facilities where expectant mothers reside for the last few weeks of their pregnancy, before delivery. MWHs have been used as an intervention to bring mothers closer to care and avoid long travel to reach a facility when they go into labor. The evidence of the use and impact of these MWHs has however been mixed.
In this webinar, our speakers explore some of the country’s experiences in the use of MWHs, the global evidence on their impact, and discuss key considerations to make them fit-for-purpose and effective.
