After the webinar Improving survival of Small and Sick newborns – The latest finding on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) that took place on October 14, 2021, we had promised another session looking at how to move towards implementation. The recording is available here using this password h^7SYok8.
We are inviting you (as well as health workers, CSOs, all GFF staff, Country platform members involved in the care of newborns to the first follow-up workshop to examine how countries can address the needs of low birth weight babies, who make up 70% of all neonatal mortality. You have heard about the benefits of providing immediate Kangaroo Mother Care. There are a number of health system implications if we are going to scale up iKMC and provide the other necessary components for the care of the small and sick newborn.
Join us next Tuesday as we discuss the implementation steps. Hear from Dr Sonia Trikha who has managed a similar program across the state of Haryana in India, and of promising programs in Ethiopia and Tanzania. Together we can outline some next steps to ensure that low birth weight newborns receive essential care.
