About this resource

This learning resource provides broad guidance aimed at supporting the development and implementation of monitoring mechanisms within school health and nutrition programs supported by World Bank lending, including outlining the foundational elements of a monitoring program; understanding how monitoring indicators are selected and applied across a logical framework at the national, sub-national, or school level; and learning how countries monitor the interventions that delivered as part of their national school health and nutrition programs, and as part of this, how the information flows between the education and health sectors for decision making. ​

After completing this microlearning resource, you will be able to:

  • Understand the relevance of monitoring adolescent health and nutrition programs to maximize the results of intervention outcomes.
  • Recognize the considerations that go into how appropriate indicators are selected.
  • Recognize the considerations for developing a monitoring protocol to ensure a standardized approach to data collection, alignment in indicators, and quality assurance. 
  • Understand the importance of agreeing on which actors will collect the data and confirming how the data will flow between the sub-national and national levels, with feedback loops for course correction.
